Port Access Road
The Port of Charleston is one of the fastest growing major container ports on the east coast – playing a critical role in global maritime trade, especially between the United States and Asia.
Overview:
To accommodate this growth, VSL’s parent company Lane Construction, in a joint-venture with Fluor, constructed a new direct access road from I-26 to the Port terminal. The new roadway is an elevated viaduct which avoids impediments including railroad crossings, tidal creeks, and hazardous material locations. VSL worked as a subcontractor on the project performing the overhead sign structures and roadway lighting.
